This is an element from a studio commission caricature I’m working at the moment. The rest will be in color.

Why color? Isn’t black and white more to his essence? A studio perrogative, perhaps? I hate art directors.
I’m working on him, myself. I want to capture that exact expression everybody knows. It’s difficult because his mouth is always moving in his photos (because he’s always talking); but it’s right when his teeth are slightly gritting, his eyebrows are cocked, and his head tilted down. I’m going to have to rent a video to find it.
PS: Were you at the convention in Raleigh?
Richard, This was a gift caricature project so I was working to please a single client. The rest of the piece was in color because it was a Las Vegas casino theme calling out, nay, screaming for COLOR! But Rod and his TZ elements stayed in B&W (although the futzy printer kept trying to print it in monochromatic blues!) as they should always be. I was at the convention in Raleigh, my first. Look around on the blog you’ll find a post about it and a post about the finished gift caricature with Mr. Serling. thanks, pm
